JadeWeb : What is your first musical memory ?
Dirk Dresselhaus : The old metal-bathtub in my grandma’s garden, which I  was drumming on the whole summer of ‘72.
I used a wooden cooking-spoon and a hammer as sticks and was hated by my family and the whole neighbourhood.

Which artist or song has "affected" your childhood ?
Elvis, I  dreamed he was my father.

Did you think of working in music ? What did you really want to become later ?
First I wanted to go on safari in Africa to help all the animals as a veterinary, but when i  first heard the white album, i thought that this is the perfect way of making a lots of money and spend life, hanging around and looking good  and stuff...

Are there any disturbing or nice sounds that have "affected"  your childhood ?
The most disturbing sound was my mother’s voice waking me up for school every morning around 6:30 am.

Did your parents give you a musical education ?
They tried to but i  never practiced. for 1 year i had ‘classic’ guitar – lessons when i was 8, but i just wanted to play chords & rythm like the Beatles did. I quit and then i had drum – lessons for 1 year, but i thought it was so uncool  & stupid to play drums with notation. I had my first ‘band’ together with my father and his Yamaha-keyboard playing ‘blueberry hill ‘ all the time. it was the only song my father could play, so we played it around 10 times in row...

Can you tell us about a musical memory of your childhood (a concert, a show..) ?
One important day was when German boogie-piano-god axel zwingenberger played at my parent’s friend’s house. i really loved it but thought that there’s drums missing. next day i started drumming on washingpowder-tubes and stuff.the other show i was really impressed of was hubert kah, a ‘neue deutsche welle‘ – popstar, which was my first loud p.a. -concert.i really couldn’t believe how loud it was but i liked it very much and the drummer had around 35 tom-toms.
